Day 11, pings frozen

Post by Joost v Veelen » Fri Dec 07, 2007 11:23 am

I don't know if more of you people noticed it, but in on of the DE02 servers(18:45 utc) The pings froze all the time. i saw guys flying at 4000m, others saw me at 4000m when i was at 1500m.

Does this had something to do with restarting the server?

Yes, that was the case. Due to that we've decided to go to another server fr02. There everything was ok.

I can add to Joost's observation, that the Ping rates on this Server were not bad, but did not vary over long periods, the way they normally do.
It happened mainly, but not exclusively, before Join time end and the effects were sometimes quite funny.
I met a glider in a thermal that was circling upside down, flying backwards.
Several mid-air collisions were reported due to severe lag, but were all "Q-able".
And looking back to the airfield several very long tow ropes were pointing into the sky.
We expected a massive kick from this Server, but fortunately that didn't happen.

Nice race again, with a nerve wrecking final glide.
