Funny, instructive and challenging little tasks for beginners.
Except for level-15(bis), which can be done in Condor, but is a big NO-NO.
If your RL ASK-13 instructor would ask you to demonstrate that in real life, you would almost certainly get killed. :(

I'd love to test the next series.

I've to create them first :)

But volunteers are welcome! If you got the "spirit" of levels I made, I'll appreciate if some can create new ones or give some ideas!
(Thermal has already sent me a tricky level)

I have about 20 other levels on my paper. But the soonest I got new ideas, the better! (to got incremental difficulty).

I've just update level 18, it was in regatta start... So now, instead of 60 seconds, it's less than 40 seconds to achieve it!

For the plane, just have a try :)

And please, don't give the spoiler!

I miscalculated maximal time for level 18 because of this regatta start, instead of 35 seconds, it's now less than 40 seconds!

Be happy

23 rotations, how?

Post by MOC » Fri Jan 18, 2008 1:24 pm

Hi there.

Thumbs up to the xp challenge. It's much fun :)

But, I simply cannot make the glider spin 23 times. My personal best is 15 times.

I feel like I've tried all configurations.

So:

Which glider did you guys use? And did you carry water? And how about cg bias?

Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great xp challenge :)

Greatings

LS 6, full water, cg bias standard, flaps -5.
I had 23 spins and 58 sec.

Hmm, I still don't get it

Post by MOC » Sat Jan 19, 2008 7:03 pm

Thanks.

I've tried that configuration, but I'm still stuck at 16-17 rotations.

I feel like I've overlooked something.

I usually apply ailerons to the same side as the rudder, it gives it a bit more spin I think. Is that how you do it too?

Also, I'm using airbrakes sometimes. Did you too?

Argh, this one bugs me! ;)

Are you sure you really want this?

Level 21 and 22 are ready but now, I'm close to my own limits
I'm now looking for a pilot mastering tiny-thermal flights and task setting to create a level based on light weather conditions (1st flight : few and weak thermals, 2nd flight: blue thermals! (a little bit more but still weak)). Indeed, I'm too bad in cross-country flight

Any pervert volunteer here? :D

Thierry,
Is level 21 and above intended as a whole new XP-category (Cross country flying), with its own difficulty level?

I mean, can level 21 be easier than the current top-level 20, or should the increasing difficulty curve be maintained?
Looking at the standard you set till now, if level 21 must be made more difficult than 20, such a task will probably be unflyable for beginning cross country pilots.

What distance do you have in mind for cross country tasks?

Btw, is there a list of the number of pilots who tried and completed the present levels, just to get an impression of the attraction of these tasks and how difficult these levels really are?

PM me if you think that's appropriate.
