(Any) flightplan to XCSoar format converter

Post by BOD1 » Mon Aug 03, 2009 11:19 pm

Following a recurrent request, I've added a tool to convert any FPL (and not only those available on CC) to XCSoar (.TSK) format.

Very nice Thierry !!! thank you

Is it too difficult to change the algorithm so it can also handle AAT's? I tried and it doesn't work. If you have some time, take a look at it. Again, thank you for all your effort for the community!!

This will be very useful! I got Condor in order to practise using XCSoar on my PDA so that, when the happy day comes where I can actually go cross-country, I'll already be familiar with XCSoar. (Haven't got as far as finding and setting up the PDA yet though...)

After you have made the conversion, where do you put the new file on the memory card, in order to see the track on the HP310?

Thanks,

I am trying to parse an .fpl for a scenery I am building of the Cape in South Africa but it doesnt work. Is this because it is in the Southern Hemisphere with negative values? I would really like to use XCSoar with Condor.

I recently wanted to create a flight plan on XCsoar from a Condor task. Unfortunately the list of maps within the current download version of Condor2nav has not been updated since 2012.
Additionally the facility with Condor Club which claims to convert Condor tasks to XCsoar format does not work (well for me it doesn't).

It would seem the solution which I have found and probably other that use XCsoar have found as well is to add the map that you want to the Condor2nav Map directory and also to amend the SceneryData.csv file.

The best way to understand the process is on this website:

https://tortui.wordpress.com/2017/01/04 ... ondor2nav/

I may be posting the blinding obvious to other XCsoar users or maybe there is a repository of up date maps and csv file that I am not aware of.

It would be kind of nice to think that whenever a new scenery came out, the Condor Club provided an updated XCsoar Maps and csv file

I have tried to convert flight plans I have created but the file I get (converted_flightplan.tsk) is a binary file which XCSoar (6.8.10-Android) cannot read.

The file is bigger (8.55 kB) than an XCSoar-created task with the same waypoints (1.22 kB)
If I make a hex dump of the file, it is mostly zeros, with some ASCII characters which represent the waypoints names (interspersed with zeros) and some other stuff :

00000DF0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00-00 A2 86 01 00 00 00 00 ................
00000E00 00 00 00 00 E0 D9 24 46-40 00 00 00 A0 B4 B7 17 ......$F@.......

00000E30 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00-00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00000E40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00-00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00000E50 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00-00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................

There is also some text (between start and 1st waypoint)

00000C40 00 00 00 43 00 6F 00 6E-00 76 00 65 00 72 00 74 ...C.o.n.v.e.r.t

00000C60 00 6E 00 64 00 6F 00 72-00 2D 00 63 00 6C 00 75 .n.d.o.r.-.c.l.u
00000C70 00 62 00 2E 00 65 00 75-00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 .b...e.u........

I have left a message to Thierry on CC but he is quite busy apparently ...

Has anyone recently used this conversion tool ?

The tool on CC doesn't work...
Most people use this tool. Although it is written for Condor V1 and converting to Windows PDA's.

You can't use it directly to an Android device (unless rooted), but you can place the task file manually on your Android device. To use it with Condor V2 you have to change a registry entry where you say the Condor V1 install directory is the Condor V2 directory or place the scenery TRN files in the Condor V1 landscapes folder (if you have Condor V1 installed)
