SkyRace 2008/09?

Post by kaleu » Fri Mar 28, 2008 8:22 pm

The 3rd SkyRace is nearly done and I hope you all had a lot of fun.
I know that this year not everything worked that smooth but my workload was reduced drastically, as I'm in last year of school, that was really needed.
Thank you very much Speedbatte Team, and especially Andreas for the many hours you spent with SkyRace!!! :)
But of course there were many others who helped, too, like Milos, Fransois and Marek hosting servers <10minutes after I told them that there are no SB-servers, MoWa, Wolfgang and Jerre for tasksetting and many others like PIT, MSE or JK who kept a close look at the results and told me if there was a problem(yes I know it's not all fixed yet  , but I can't change that atm).
Thank you guys, without you SkyRace wasn't possible :D .

About the next SkyRace...so far I don't know if and if yes how it will be done.
Of course I'd like to continue but with the decreasing number of pilots I'm not really wure what's the best for all.
I had some ideas, but also other pilots gave me some ideas how to handle SkyRace in future. Please if you have some ideas, post them here, and post them early, not in the last 2 weeks before the next SkyRace starts ;) .

1. Continue as it is now, maybe reduce the number of classes or add different times for the different classes(but then different tasks for each class), e.g. 15m 17:45, 18m 18:45 and Open 20:45.

2. Another Idea was make it similar to GrandPrix (maybe with QualiGP, maybe just use the GP Scoring + Regattastart always)

3. Just a regular Flying without any overall scoring, just for fun, one server Regatta, one Server "normal", maybe with a monthly scoring, but I'd talk to Tom before that.

4. Here could be YOUR idea

I hope we find a solution fitting for as many pilots as possible so we can continue the SkyRace some more years :) .
I'm happy about any useful or funny comment  .

It has been my second Skyrace and I have very much enjoyed both. It is nice to fly with the same group of pilots every week and the tasks have been nice and varied.

For me you could leave it as it is, but I'll join in next year whatever the format.

Many thanks Karsten and to all the helpers.

Timezones will be:

18:45 UTC
20:45 UTC

and for US we got

24:00 UTC
3:00 UTC (saturday in europe)

If we'll see that there is a timezone left (almost) empty we might delete that one after the first flights.
