Why 250mb?

Post by eyefly » Tue Mar 14, 2006 6:28 am

I might not have the numbers just right because they come from memory:

If the original download for Condor including all the planes, towplanes, programing, multiplayer etc and scenery is ~30mb, I was curious to know why just the Eastern Alps scenery would be 250mb?

It seems odd that just more of 1 component [EA landscape] would be 8x larger than the whole rest of the program?

Are the airports and hangars and other ground objects defined more? I've seen others real interested in adding detail at the airports, but who wants to hang out at the airport instead of flying?

I look forward to trying the new scenery and am glad that there are people willing to put hours into it.

regards,
Chris

The original Condor (v. 1.0.2) that i downloaded was 160MB. And if i'm right, the area covered by EAlps scenery is larger than the area from Slovenia.

The original Condor Setup (v1.0.4) that I downloaded was 154Mb.
That expanded a.o. in a folder "Slovenia" of ~290MB.

Considering that the EasternAlps area is more than twice the size of Slovenia, 549MB for the EAlps including the v1.1 enhancements is not at all bad.
