PC Configuration with Tablet

Post by Dani » Sun Aug 14, 2016 11:10 pm

Greatings fellow glider pilots!
After a long break, I'm trying to come back to Condor and competition gliding.

Is it true that nowadays pilots use XCSoar on a tablet as they used to have this palm computers in their cockpit? Or are there other solutions? Do you still use the palm on Condor's screen? What functions are in CXSoar that are not in the palm?

Do you also use XCSoar in real gliders?

Thanks for your help.

XCSoar brings many more functions, while connected into Condor too.
Nice reading about XCSoa features - 190 pages :) http://download.xcsoar.org/releases/6.8 ... manual.pdf

Some of us run XCSoar in tablets or smartphones, some on a second monitor or networked PC.
The main reason I use it is maps are easier to read and the wind arrow and slope shading make it easier to judge which ridges should work well.

Dani,

I use the Top Hat Soaring ( http://www.tophatsoaring.org/ ) version of XCSoar on my Nexus 7 and I won't leave home without it; and I use it in the sailplane as well.

There is a plethora of topics on setup and usage on this forum as well as GliderRacing.com and at Top Hat.

Here are some shots:

Until a couple of days ago (when it died) I have been using XCSoar on my 10" tablet, at the moment I am using it on my phone. I still use the Condor PDA for compass & FG.
