Hi there.

I'm pretty new to the forum, but I'm very interested to a 3D VR device to use with Condor.

In my experience Condor is very effective as glider fly simulator, but is very limited in term of experience without a VR device: the single sceen view is quite unnatural and is pporly replace by view rotation command. Looking out of the cockpit is a key feture for a glider pilot.

If there is any driver/interface for Oculus Rift, or any else, I will be very interest to test.

Thanks and best reagrds.

Lorenzo.

Hi,

I'm agree with you, VR gives very a new dimension to Condor.
I'm curently working on the CV1 version but only during my very limited spare time. I would like to release a demo version to give you the possibility to test the solution.
You probably know that VR need a good hardware configuration.
VR4Condor need too a good RAM speed (PC3-12800 or above) and good Video Ram Speed and bus speed (pcie 16x or above).
I advice nvidia graphic card, since some DirectX7 functions are bad implemented on ati card (no optimization)

Here is the config I'm using for the dev, it's a two years old PC :
Asus Z97A
NVidia GTX 980 TI 6GO
8GO DDR3 1600 PC3-12800
Intel Core i7 4790K 4GHz
SSD Crucial 512GB
Oculus CV1
Win X 64 Pro

Regards,

Hi there.

My system:

ASUS ROG
Intel Core i7-4720 HQ CPU @2.6 GHz (8 CPU)
RAM 16 Gb
64bit OS x64-Based processor
250 GB HD memory
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M
Widows 10

Thrustmaster device set (Joystick, pedals and thrust)

Modified PlaySeat F1 game seat.

I don't know the power level of my hardware (some new is coming from the company).

Plus: some (very) old skills of Computer Graphics programming, just to understand the computational difference between a single central projection and a stereo one.

Thanks

PlaySeat F1 modified game seat

I don't know the power level of my system (company is going to change it soon ...).

I am disappointed to find this thread was referring to getting old Condor working on Rift ? I was getting excited ..but its great to see ppl weer working on this issue .

It would be very easy for the devs to create a RIFT CV1 compatible version if they are creating Condor 2.0 with Unity Pro ( which is one of the two main engines ) . You simply click a few check boxes and render the new Rift version as support for Rift is built deep into Unity . There may be a few minor adjustments but putting a 3d game into Rift compatibility is quite simple . Condor 2 is designed for Direct X 11 which would be critical for rendering the large resolutions required for VR . This is not to say that there might not be tunings to be done on memory allocations and such , but my main point is that if done in Unity Pro I can say from experience that a version for Rift Cv1 that could at least be experimented with is only a few check box click away .

It would be great to see a Rift version in the future - since I got my VR setup I just simply haven't done any flightsimming any other way . With Rift now at $399 US and the minimum spec GPU card now at 1050Ti which is under $200 its not to expensive to get into VR . I am running MS Flight Simulator ok with a GTX 1060 in VR .

Thanks,

but ... sorry for the chilly question: is Condor 2 available?

No idea about this, I see a long forum but it is still not clear the availability status.

Any update is more than welcome.

Thanks,

Hi,

No Sebbil, it's not a joke, releasing this demo needs still some time.
I do that during part of my free time and unfortunately I do not have a lot of it. No easy for me to give a date. So be patient please.
It will be a time limited connected demo version (between 5 or 10min) just to see if your hardware is compatible and if you like it...
The first version will be for nvidia cards. I will see after for an ati cards version, depending on the demand...

Best Regards,

PS : I have flown with my new CV1-sdk 1.20 (and still compatible too with the old dk2) during network Condor session. It's so great inside thermals with other gliders ;-)

How did you achieve 6 DoF without changing the condor code? If that works for a VR set, it should work for a trackir. And chances are, it will work with V2 as well. If you could tell us how you pulled that off, it would make a lot of people very happy, while we wait for a proper VR solution.
