Mechanical cockpit

Hello everyone,

I took a little time to register on the forum but here I am and here is my little cookpit project.

I started out with the desire to have a mechanical dashboard and not just a screen. And as I touch my ball in electronics, mechanics and programming, I decide to go through with my idea.

The overall concept will revolve around a UDP data collector built with a Raspberry Pi and transferred to an I2C bus to each instrument which will be controlled by Arduino compatible boards. The instruments will look like a real flight instrument. All will be supported by a tablet equipped with XCSoar to simulate the PDA.

I started with the mechanical vario.

I used the "Winter" model in size 80mm

I design it by layer because I am building in plastic wood and plexi that I will assemble like a thousand sheets.

Just trying to help. I have built some cockpits for fsx/p3d/xplane.
The use of a nema stepper motor to move just a needle is quite overkill.
For needles we use x27.168 stepper motors. They have some advantages. You don't need a homing sensor, and it can be move really really smooth. They are very cheap and are used in automotive dashboards in real world.

I thought to build a cockpit for Condor too, but finally went for VR path.
