Simple setup for paragliding training

Post by Kinga » Thu Jun 03, 2021 9:03 am

Hi. I'm a paragliding pilot and want to use Condor for training. I'm after a very simple setup as I'm currently traveling and living in a van so less is better. I've been scrolling this forum for hours and all your awesome setups seem a bit overwhelming to me 😅

I've found this solution: https://www.cumulus-soaring.com/store/c ... andard-kit
Any suggestions are welcome.

As I have no experience with Condor yet, my first question might seem silly, sorry for that, do I need pedals or can I work around it and play without them?

If anyone knows and can advice what in particular shall I pay attention if my main focus is pg? I would like to hide cockpit or limit it to some basic bearing etc. Is it possible to have only sound vario on? Is it possible to change glide ratio and speed to simulate a paraglider better?

Thanks for for any advice.

no need for pedals if you don't use them IRL (which means the above package is not very useful as the pedals make about half the price), you can either assign the joystick twist to the rudder or activate the auto-rudder option

quite possible with the CTRL-F1 key which makes the cockpit invisible (not really needed with the SG38)
Is it possible to change glide ratio and speed to simulate a paraglider better?
No, the Grunau Baby and the SG38 are the closest match to pg

Thank you for your response.
Great, I'll just buy software, a joystick and start from there.
I have 24 inch screen in my van, it's enough for my needs.
I'll first try with my Surface Pro 5 with Intel® Iris™ Plus Graphics 640 (i7) I'm aware this graphic card is way below what it should be so I might come back here soon asking other silly questions about this or that gaming laptop 😊
Cheers!
