Easter - no scored LLC task?

Post by wiktor256 » Wed Apr 12, 2006 7:35 am

Is there going to be a task on Easter Sunday? I think we should skip it like we did on Christmas.

Hi,

I truly hope that the already announced task for 16th April WILL take place! Everyone who doesn't want to fly is not forced to (and has no disadvantages as the LLC scoring system is especially designed for that!) - but I guess especially at this day there will be many people around who want to fly!

In real-life soaring (at least at the club nearest to my home), no one would come up with the idea of skipping soaring activities because of Easter - the opposite is true, everyone is glad to have some extra time for glider flying at the long weekend!

That's a good idea panther.

Can we have some extra LLC days at easter? :D

I don't think skipping it is a good idea but it would be nice if we did something a bit different. Don't know what. :?

How about an Assigned Area Task (AAT) on Sunday? Setting up such a task in Condor is possible by editing the task file. However, there is more burden on the organizers because all IGC files would have to be analyzed and scored outside of the current system.

AAT

I will be interested to hear what S.Low thinks of this. I thought that all competition pilots hated AAT's

I think the advantage of using AAT in LLC would be the time control. Pilots would attempt to finish just after the minimum task time, therefore the waiting time for last finishers would be much shorter.

There will be a task, and it will count as any other (off course, depending how many tasks you fly this month, and how well you score)

AAT's are something we can only do when Condor supports it; until then, its just too complicated to score

I think for many European pilots the LLC is one month too-long.
Sunday has become almost impossible to fly LLC when sunset is only 30 minutes before..
I can only fly on thursdays nowadays, but with 9 possible days, I will need at least one sunday to fly..
I think I'm not the only one, and a lot of top Condor Pilots are not well represented this month.
I can hold my place, as it would have been nicer if the standings would have been final after march ;)
But I think I will be able to keep 3rd place with current month upfront,
but my advise for next year's LLC is to keep it one month shorter.
There are allready enough days to get out a true winner,
from my point of view this last month is misrepresenting the LLC results.

(no offense)

I hope you will overthink this for next LLC
Think positive, flaps negative.
