Impressions day 17
Hmmm, no joy connecting. I got through the briefing, but at the grey-scale splash screen before entering the cockpit it got as far as "Loaing Network Players" then after a few minutes would dump me to the debrief.
Anyone else get this? Tried 2 different Lowlands servers, but same thing. Non lowlands server worked fine though

wow, sorry to hear about the disconnects, etc.
My first LLC (lowlands ZL US Server). Nice task. I was a little concerned that on the grid, I couldn't see a thing it was so dark. I thought that maybe the CD expected it to be a long day .
I had a strange failure at TP2.
All chat msgs disappeared (i dont yet use teamspeak) and my keyboard failed to register keystrokes.The network connect icon was gone too so I was unsure if I still had the server. I could hear the message "beeps" and occasionally I could see another airplane on the PDA so maybe I was still online.
My wing was locked in reflex, the PDA was stuck in WP map mode and I only had stick and trim control. I was unable to unload water, lower gear, change flaps or communicate.
Apart from that, things weren't too bad.
I was looking forward to an interesting landing, HEAVY and NO GEAR with the wing in SPEED MODE.
Determined not to give up, i just kept flyin.
I was afraid my taskmates would think me rude for not responding to any potential msgs they might send.
8km from the finish....D'OH!!!
i inadvertantly hit the enter key and I got the keyboard controls back.
Started dumping the water, took a look @ final glide on the PDA (about 100 m high but I would make it), cycled the gear to make sure I REALLY had some rollers and completed the course.
153kmh if I remember correctly.
Somehow the chat/msg key had been struck and the display failed at the same time, disabling the key commands.
kinda weird.
BUT, I finally got to fly my first LLC, and WITHOUT A FREEZE or disconnect.
Thanks for the race to the guys on ZL US server. Forgive me for not hanging around to chat.....
I just was temporarily "deaf".
cheers

So after my bitching I flew the task offline, just set time to race to 45 min. to make times match. I just checked my flight summary in igc:
RaceID=0
StartTime=07:09:59
FlightTime=02:27:58
TaskStart=07:56:16
TaskTime=01:39:42
Finished=1
DistanceFlown=248.89 km
AverageSpeed=149.77 km/h
PenaltyPoints=0.0
GhostCount=0
Could have done alright on this one I suspect
Once I discovered where I was on the last leg I went at one heck of a speed. Nice task bad computer, oh yes and the problem was that I forgot to change my power settings and it doesn't recognize a joystick as a valid input to keep it awake

task went pretty well for me, decided to wait for nearly the whole time window in hope of some thermals during the end of the task, but didn't need them. Instead, i figured out where to find the wave to TP1 and back and tried the route to TP2 for some km. On task, i only had problems at the 2nd TP, took a not ideal route and was a bit low, but 5m/s wave in mountains helped me back up. Finishing was then only matter of time.
Well...
My first LLC and I made the task, thanks to santa and the anti-grav sled, i broke the tow rope around 4-600m and it was an uphill (<funny) battle...
I think I made the start window fairly decent and proceeded to find the desperately needed altitude I would have had with a full tow.
Being such a rookie I failed to notice (<translation= felt like an idiot) that I was in a ASW22 not the 28-18 I was used to, and I have no knowledge or experience with flap/reflex usage to gain any advantage, but I will learn.
Many thanks to the guys that flew th ZL US server, and the pilot (I forgot your cn) that waited until I landed thanks again! encouragement goes a long way.
I look forward to the next one...

thx, but there are still results missing. Server AB "Denmark" didn't deliver results cause it crashed.
so if you flew on that server, please submit your IGC file and if possible the raceresultfile from that race. it would help us a lot.
Also look into your raceresults directory. The results should be available in a csv file. When you have the file, please send it

Wow, "make sure you have an early start" the briefing said...
Being towed by Santa in almost total darkness was the second most exciting tow I ever had, beaten only by a real life experience in a >100 km/h Mistral tow in the French Alps a couple of years ago.
Somehow I managed to follow Santa and soon found wave to almost 3000 meters and enjoyed a beautiful sunrise.
Then the tow pilots on the "JH" server obviously found this early hour totally irresponsible and went on strike for while.
Therefore, a number of pilots couldn't start in time and it took a long time and a Competition Official before the start line opened.
The task itself went surprisingly well, although I found myself in trouble after the second TP due to a somewhat ambitious MC setting.
However, my aim was to just finish a task for once, instead of being errored off or frozen.
My Nimbus4 has been heavily "patched" in close cooperation with the factory, and I did some minor detours on this task to verify the results of the modifications.
This made me even slower than usual, but the task could be completed normally.
Very nice task, well done LLC team.
And, Happy New Year to all.
