Request for an useful tool

Post by BOD1 » Thu Jan 04, 2007 5:03 pm

I'm wondering if someone (not necessary Uros or GR) could develop a tool enabling a 3D view of the task/flight track. It could be used by task setters (much easy to place TP/window) or by pilots to see their flight track.
I'm not skilled for 3D stuff, that's why I ask to others! Of course I can provide help to import FTR/FPL in 3D view. Or, if someone knows how to display/rotate a 3D view of a Condor scenery, I can try to make a java applet...

Here is an example (see picture) or look at the end of this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaRwDs1-6_I to see a very good one (from SilentWing or FS).

Your thoughts?

This is a very good idea! Like the Silent Wings viewer!
From my point of view, it has to be done by the Condor team or at least someone with acces to their code, as it touches their main engine.
Otherwise you might have to reverse-engineering the Condor data (landscape, 3d models ...) in order to display them correctly in YOUR viewer.
But I am not a 3d expert so I might be wrong
And let's ask even more to the Condor team : the possibility to replay an IGC file in the Condor viewer!
Come'on guys, that's the problem when you deliver a so good product... Users will always ask for more

In this kind of software, there's also GPLIGC. Unfortunately, none of the previously named software are displaying the flight in the Condor 3D environment.
