Re: Thermal Parameters Test
Interesting - thanks! I have been doing some reading of various pilot reports from the US in the Rockies, and it seems that on "good" days they see what Condor would consider "Strong" to "Very Strong" thermals as standard, with some thermals apparently being beyond what we can even achieve in Condor...

Re: Thermals Setting
It's not a bell or V shaped, but uniform distribution: average +/- random * variation OK - thanks! So if I selected Moderate with Medium for variation, then I could expect to see Strong and Weak thermals, but nothing beyond those limits? I assume also then, that if I select one end of the range of ...

Thermals Setting
Hi, If I set thermals to "Moderate" with variation set to "None", all thermals are "Moderate". If I set thermals to "Moderate" with variation set to "Low", what happens? Does it follow a bell-shaped or V-shaped distribution around the set strength, or is it an upper bound? Are the other strengths ar...

Re: Soaring in very flat terrain
How does one soar above the clouds when flying in flat terrain, without any slopes or cliffs to surf? I can't find any lift above the clouds, so is there some kind of dynamic soaring employed to do this? Cheers Jeff Thermals work through warm air rising up through cooler air. The cloud tops occur w...

Re: Soaring in very flat terrain
Not modelled AFAIK.
There are flat-land thermals but they don't extend very high that I've seen.
The only wave I know of is mechanical (wind over terrain).

Re: VNE discussion (vote!)
Real speeds! Otherwise it is a very "gamey" mechanic to fix a perceived problem that should be dealt with via other means (as already suggested - harsh penlty for flying faster than Vne in a race). Physics doesn't care about race rules. ;) Also, not all of us fly Condor to race. ;) Calculating appro...

Alternative JS1-C Panel Layout
Hi, I created an alternative panel layout for the JS1-C. Please see the attached for the panel file. Modifying Panel Layout
Hi,
Is there an easy way to figure out the coordinates required to place instruments on a panel?
I want to modify the layout of the JS1-C, but I can't quite figure out the panel configuration.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Question to the Devs: Condor addon for FS2020?
FS2020 sucks. The flight model is still the rubbish from 20+ years ago, with a few changes only.
The Aerosoft gliding sim looks similarly dumbed-down in the flight modelling.

Re: Speedindicator when sliping
Just curious: why not? The ASI reduces approximately by the cosine of the beta (slip) angle. Similarly, it reduces by the cosine of alpha (angle of attack), which is why when stalling, the ASI usually under-reads vs. the book value. People make the mistake of thinking they have more margin to the st...
