Re: Vario relates to air instead of glider movement
It's because the vario is total energy compensated (it connects to the pitot as well as the static port). This is useful for gliding because you want to know the total energy gained or lost, both kinetic (airspeed) and potential (altitude), more so than the nominal gain or loss of height. In your fi...

Re: Running XCSoar inside Condor's PDA
Would be great if this could be officially supported ! I think most people use the oculus dashboard feature that allows you to pin windows onto the virtual space. It's a bit immersion breaking since it overlays the game. On the other hand you get the benefit of 1:1 rendering since dashboard desktop ...

Re: Condor 3 dynamic weather question
It’s about complexity. We don’t want to bring a new feature to Condor which is difficult to understand and use. Beta team are happy with what we have done, so I don’t think this will be a problem. Of course we can certainly improve it in future updates if it’s justified I understand ! On the other ...

Condor 3 dynamic weather question
During Mr. Chris' interview on C3 during the FAI Virtual GP, the new dynamic weather features were brought up. As I understand it, you'll have your "global" weather settings (just like in C2) but you'll also get 3 "weather zones" with their own settings that can move around in various speeds, allowi...

Yea it should say task started and you'll hear a sound. It has to be the left wing I think.

Afaik both flarm and more dynamic weather have been confirmed, including precipitation, convergence and controllable weather variation.
Re: Condor 3
Holy cow this is HYPE! And it's really nice that you're keeping the plane licenses from v2. It's understandable that you can't promise any dates, but it would be great to have occasional development journals sometimes.

Feature Suggestion - Zoom in VR
I know the list of feature requests is long but here's my 2 cents. The vr experience in condor would go from near-perfect to perfect with an instant zoom function like xplane's , a medium-level zoom intended for occasional use. This would help close the gap between vr's limitations in resolution and...

Re: Any tips you could spare on using Condor for self learning ?
Thanks guys I find the real thing easier than the sim, so if you can handle the glider and fly accurately, the real thing is easier. My biggest gripe is that sim rudder pedals just do not move anywhere close to far enough. I find it so bad, I'm currently designing sim pedals with 1:1 throw. That's g...

Re: A suitable VR headset for my PC?
Get a Quest 2, it's the only option on that price range. I run condor with quest 2 on the same minimum-spec vr computer that I ran the first oculus rift on, and your specs are better. It runs smoothly for me, I have it in wireless link mode. Screen door effect is absolutely a nonfactor in all curren...

Re: Any tips you could spare on using Condor for self learning ?
1) When it comes to ridge flying, that is something I approach with a lot of respect. Always gently test a ridge on any given day before going all in, always be aware of the violence that can occur there that you cannot feel in Condor. Totally agree. I remember Bruno Vassel's video about his near d...

Re: D Drive gone walk about
You can try opening the unpowered laptop and then reseating (disconnecting and reconnecting) the hdd cable, or, if you have an external hard drive usb adapter, try putting the disk on that, connect to the laptop and see if it can spin up. You can try a 3rd party disk partitioning software instead of...

If you fly cross-country in hilly or mountainous areas, you could also analyse your flights to check that you always remained within gliding range of landable areas : https://www.condorsoaring.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=19740 Thank you for veriflocal, have you considered open sourcing the deve...
Re: PC sims
Probably doesn't matter actually, anything from the list of available ports on xcsoar's menu should work.
Re: PC sims
For XCSoar on the same pc you need virtual serial port software (HW VSP3 is a good free one - https://www.hw-group.com/product-version/hw-vsp3-single ). Then it's pretty easy: Go to windows settings, click network and internet then click on your network's "properties" button. At the bottom note your...
