Re: Condor 2 Manual

Thanks for the clue. It worked fine as a PDF, and I have a nice hard copy for my folder.

Thanks also for the kind welcome back. I didn't know I was missed!

Condor 2 Manual

I cannot print out the manual. All I get is the page with 'User Guide" on it and a blank sheet.

Re: Deleting multiple messages in the pm folder ?

Well now, there'a a thing! I only asked because my folder is full, which I think may mean that any pm's sent to me don't reach me. This is going to be a problem as I have just had a new computer installed which brought a change of OS to Windows 10. I am finding the latter quite hard to cope with and...

Re: Vintage gliders on Condor

Very interesting contribution. Your experiences and those of your partners are pretty much what I would expect, and you give me a clue about what when wrong with my failed spin recovery. The standard recovery is: full rudder out of spin direction followed by full forward stick. I did not occur to me ...

Re: Vintage gliders on Condor

I stand corrected on the controls then. I have never seen a K3. Did you fly it? And if so, did you ever spin it? The Ka 2 and Ka 7 two seaters which I have instructed in quite a lot (not V tails,of course) were excellent for teaching spinning. Terrible poor lookout from the back seat though - that's...

Re: Vintage gliders on Condor

Further to my comment about V tails: Combining elevator and rudder, for that is what you are doing here seems a good idea - save weight and profile drag. What's not to like about that? I'll tell you: The elevator is normally used falrly gently at all times to adjust the angle of attack of the main w...

Re: Vintage gliders on Condor

V tails were never popular on vintage gliders, and you never see them on glass ones. The only V tail I ever flew was the prototype BG135 Gypsy (an all metal ship) and it nearly killed me. I was asked to test fly it with the CG set well aft because I had long legs and wold be sitting well back in the...

Re: Vintage gliders on Condor

The Weihe is an 18m Olympia, a glider I have never seen. There were 100 UK plus some French Olympias, but if people would prefer the Weihe I would go along with that. A wooden two seater might be fun as well . I'd go for the Bocian which in my opinion was the nicest of the breed. I would avoid the S...

Re: Vintage gliders on Condor

I suppose I ought to put in my tuppenceworth, since I think I can fairly claim to be one of ,or maybe even the first, to suggest that a wooden glider or two might be a good idea in Condor My handle will give you a clue as to which one I prefer. I flew an Olympia 2b for many years, did two of my Silv...

Re: Glider Flight Manuals Wanted

I doubt very much that any of us RL glider pilots ever saw a 'flight manual'. Certainly not an official one. In my time we were just briefed by an instructor who had experience of the plane (invariably a single seater) and sent off to have a first solo in a new type. Moving from basic types like the...

Re: flapped ships flight model question - OP can't land

I think this discussion points up the problem of using Condor as a training platform. Till the day you have your first really heavy landing IRL you will have no fear of fiddling around in the flare phase with anything, flaps or spoilers. In Condor you can do all these funny things and get away with ...

Re: flapped ships flight model question - OP can't land

Hmm, As an instructor I would never ever teach the use of flaps and spoilers together at any phase of flight. Pupils have enough trouble without juggling with the flaps.

Re: flapped ships flight model question - OP can't land

Flaps are for staying up.Spoilers are for coming down. You should not deploy both at the same time - no wonder you got such strange flying. The only flapped ship I have flown was the Blanik. I once inadvertantly pulled the flaps on an approach instead of the spoilers. I 'ballooned' rather than desce...
