Re: condor better than FS2020.......but not for long

Competition breeds innovation. There’s certainly room for more than one simulator. I gave gliders in MSFS a little try and was a little disappointed with the weather setup so good to know they’re working on it, this is the battleground. If an updated condor offered nothing except for an overhauled w...

Re: AI Autopilot makes a 8000km 38hour flight possible

This is impressive but people shouldn't worry. I don't see how a machine learning AI can beat a human pilot on a task it has never experienced before. If you do 1000's of runs on the same task with the same weather seed then eventually, an AI would be able to work out the best routing to take it thr...

Re: Condor 3

You could have given it a little bit longer, that was a really solid attempt at starting an internet rumour! Actually, what I've seen of MSFS 2020 so far is whilst it continues to look amazing, and they are talking good talk about atmospheric simulations, I have experienced nothing in the software t...

Re: Condor 3

I'll just wildly speculate here that Asobo/Microsoft have found an external partner to help them bring gliding into MSFS (this is confirmed) because they lack the significant expertise to do it properly. Meanwhile, the Condor team have the required expertise to provide a realistic gliding experience...

Re: DG300 pictures

I took a few minutes of video exploring inside the cockpit of the DG303 and hopefully PM'd it to the right person. Hope it's usable!

Re: Arcus - change seat

If using VR it's sort of possible if you don't mind a headless corpse in the front seat.

Making it harder for myself by including the BGA trigraph so effectively 12 characters to work with :)

16 Character Limit on Turnpoint Names

Is there any plan or ability to increase the 16 character limit for TP's in CUP files? Trying to get over 1000 TP's cut down to size  not all are straightforward thanks to long Welsh and Scottish place names!

UK VSC Discord & Schedule

For those that are unaware of the existence of the UK VSC - It was originally borne out of the successful Condor 2 groups separately operated by Yorkshire GC (Sutton Bank) and The Gliding Centre (Hus-Bos). Cambridge GC later joined the fun, and now we have pilots at all levels representing at least ...

You can join the VSC discord server without needing to use Facebook. Let me know if you need an invite link.

TBH We started as an FB group but Discord seems to work much better for us so most of the activity goes there.

Re: Object optimization

The most critical performance factor is the number of draw calls. A draw call is invoked for each object within a C3D file. So if you have 3000 C3D files and each has 30 objects inside, that's 90000 draw calls (texture swaps) per frame! So the golden rule is group, group, group. It's better to use ...
