Re: DG300 pictures

I took a few minutes of video exploring inside the cockpit of the DG303 and hopefully PM'd it to the right person. Hope it's usable!

Re: Arcus - change seat

If using VR it's sort of possible if you don't mind a headless corpse in the front seat.

Re: 16 Character Limit on Turnpoint Names

Making it harder for myself by including the BGA trigraph so effectively 12 characters to work with :)

16 Character Limit on Turnpoint Names

Is there any plan or ability to increase the 16 character limit for TP's in CUP files? Trying to get over 1000 TP's cut down to size  not all are straightforward thanks to long Welsh and Scottish place names!

UK VSC Discord & Schedule

For those that are unaware of the existence of the UK VSC - It was originally borne out of the successful Condor 2 groups separately operated by Yorkshire GC (Sutton Bank) and The Gliding Centre (Hus-Bos). Cambridge GC later joined the fun, and now we have pilots at all levels representing at least ...

Re: UK Scenery

You can join the VSC discord server without needing to use Facebook. Let me know if you need an invite link.

TBH We started as an FB group but Discord seems to work much better for us so most of the activity goes there.

Re: Object optimization

The most critical performance factor is the number of draw calls. A draw call is invoked for each object within a C3D file. So if you have 3000 C3D files and each has 30 objects inside, that's 90000 draw calls (texture swaps) per frame! So the golden rule is group, group, group. It's better to use ...

Hope nobody uses it that lives in Great Yarmouth :D

Seriously though, might have to model some oil rigs for the addition of turnpoints for crazy people...

Re: 3D Object Phyiscal size?

Followed the advice in that thread - one single object inside the C3D file, check. One texture, check.

Frame rate still suffers.

Maybe merge the threads, but an answer is still no closer.

3D Object Phyiscal size?

Has anyone got any data or done any testing on what the best size for 3D objects is? We modelled a small town as a single file containing a single mesh with one single texture for the lot - and saw a significant frame rate drop. Not unflyable, but that would largely depend on computer specs I guess....

Re: UK Scenery

Andy - the work you do on the UK scenery is hugely appreciated and very far from being amateur. Since the addition of trees, water and a thermal map, and the work that has been started on modelling the bigger objects, airfields and turnpoints - there isn't much more anyone could ask for, or do bette...

Re: West UK

Whether Scotland should be Merged with North-UK is probably one for the Scottish pilots; as the usual tasks from North England go south (or at least not too much further north than the existing limit of that scenery). Do the Scots (who aren't playing in the wave) generally head south into England I ...
