Re: Any tips you could spare on using Condor for self learning ?
This is why I do not use VR. Just the perspective in the sim is enough to cause me problems (MSFS is rubbish in this regard).Negative training of depth perception.

Re: FAI Sailplane Grand Prix - Qualifying - Varese ITALY 2021
I usually look here : https://www.condorsoaring.com/serverlist/?wdt_search=cndr2 Or here : https://condor.hitziger.net/serverlist/ PS. Task Times on Condor.club are in UTC. In this competition you have 30 minutes to connect. If no one connects, the server goes offline. Argghh! With the task, etc., ...

Re: FAI Sailplane Grand Prix - Qualifying - Varese ITALY 2021
Apologies if it is supposed to be obvious, but which server/server IP/port do we connect to?
I don't see any server information anywhere except a password in the e-mail.
I do not see the server names listed on the results page listed under condor.club server list.

Re: JS-1 Handling Bad?
No ballast. I was attempting to maintain 45 kts (min sink speed) in stable ridge lift. There was "light turbulence" but otherwise nothing too extreme (wind speed/direction was constant and the ridge line fairly straight in the area it was having problems). I think I may be under-estimating the (dyna...

Re: Feature Request: Ability to move polar up/down the Y-axis
Yes I did, but I use the polar chart for pre-flight planning.
Not sure how it's done IRL, but I can imagine there are situations where you want some ballast, but not max ballast.

Re: Flap Setting in a Thermal?
Yes, I saw that.
You are correct - approximately 10 kts/20 kph difference.
I am in the process of editing the rings so I can "select" the ring suitable for the ballast loaded.
You gave me an idea actually!

Re: Flap Setting in a Thermal?
Hi, Thanks! I did some more research, and broadly had the right idea. I just seem in Condor to find there is no such thing as "too much flap". I'm fairly careful with flap usage, extending them when slow, and cleaning up early during acceleration (but not below stall speed, obviously). The JS-1-21 d...

Re: Feature Request: Ability to move polar up/down the Y-axis
Maybe moot now - I've created a spreadsheet that computes optimum speeds to fly in sink. I'll release it shortly.

JS-1 Handling Bad?
Hi, Is there an issue with the JS-1 flight model? I find it quite unstable, prone to stalling, and generally rather awkward at low speed. I keep flying it back-to-back with the Antares, Diana2, and Cirrus, and all the others, while obviously different, are much better behaved than either of the JS-1...

Re: Any tips you could spare on using Condor for self learning ?
Hi, I find the real thing easier than the sim, so if you can handle the glider and fly accurately, the real thing is easier. My biggest gripe is that sim rudder pedals just do not move anywhere close to far enough. I find it so bad, I'm currently designing sim pedals with 1:1 throw. I love flying th...
