Re: New FAI handicaps

I've edited my original post as I forgot that there was a limit on handicap reduction. I wasn't aware of this, and not sure if this has always been there but not many pilots will ever come close to being 20kg under the reference weight if they'd wanted. In reality this would mean that pilots that ar...

Re: New FAI handicaps

Not really. All depends on the actual weight vs reference weight. For the ASW20 it would mean a reduction of 0.09 (340kg vs 372 > 30kg light) so index should be 1.051 But here is a funfact: The cirrus flies at 290kg (good luck with that in reallife) while the reference weight is 345kg => index 0.985...

Re: CWC2021 scoring on condorclub

A day factor is a bit strange as a concept in a competition where not all days count ... Couldnt agree more. If you are comparing days to another by only counting the 17 best results you cannot have a daywin (yesterday) gain as much points as place 20 on another... It gets even more weird: outlandi...

Re: JS3 handles to open cockpit missing

The condor version shows 1 handle, but in real this one handle is split in two indeed. Could be easily solved with an extra texture. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4TYaoIaE7s&t=26s JS3 has a single handle. Let me refrase: in condor it only shows the use for jettison of the canopy, while in realit...

Re: Access violation

The biggest limit for me is by far the CPU, not the GPU. (m3 vs Intel HD 515  ) As long as I don't use features as AA and AF that is. The amount of thermals that are present are the main factor it seems. So higher inversion = less thermals = better fps. When flying in flatlands low cloudbase is...

Re: JS3 is released

May I add to this discussion: https://www.soaringspot.com/en_gb/35th-world-gliding-championships-hosin-2018/results/18-meter JS3 and Ventus 3 seem to be on par when comparing the WGC results. So please upgrade the ASG29 and JS1 then please  https://www.soaringspot.com/en_gb/34th-fai-world-gli...

Re: winch training

Some workaround might be: - use the 'ghost function' and land your glider at the winch facing the start position and then you watch your 'ghost' take off from there. - host a multiplayer session (two licenses required) and do the same as above: 1 glider stays on the ground at the winch while the oth...

The bug is only present when somebody with HU17 installed joins as spectator with a plane that is in HU17 on a server without HU17 installed.
Thanks Wiek, indeed not much of a bug then.

Re: Bluescreen while spectator joins?

Maybe this can be considered a bug? Oxo, Uros? It cannot be right that when 1 person modifies his files (purposely or by accident) and then all clients on the server AND the server crashes :? Why not like when modified landscape files are detected the client that has the wrong files simply gets kick...

Bluescreen while spectator joins?

Hi all, Just this evening after finishing the task (still some people out on task) M.DGTFER connected as a spectator. I assume that when he joined the session it went wrong NetPlayer connected: M.DGTFER. Landscape refresh stopped at 23:26:44. Client.CreateNewNetPlayer at 23:26:58: LoadPlaneDataFromF...

Re: Flying in Google Earth

I'm impressed. I'm not sure if GE updates fast enough to run smooth for visual flying, but in many cases it could be used nicely with homebuilt simulators using separate instruments. It could save people a lot of work on scenery building just for local training purposes. Only problem would be that t...

Re: The trouble with AATs [Dane Dickinson, from Soaring NZ]

Look at high jump, or weightlifting where the competitor has to estimate what he can achieve. Take the easy route, you'll get some points for sure. Take the difficult route you'll either get lots of points, or loose it all. Just an example. I like flying AAT's. It gives more room for creativity. The...

Re: Hahnweide Pokal › Virtualsoaring.eu Competition

I must say that I really enjoyed last flight. It wasn't the best, but because of many gliders around (XX1, F, MIL, D32, J51 and in the end some more) it felt like racing all the time. Especially because I made a mistake on the first leg. After aeretow I entered a 3m/s climb, so based on that and the...
