Re: Clarification on Water Alpha tiles

I'm not sure where I went wrong. Ndvxt.exe is in the same directory as WaterAlpha.exe, but the tool did not convert BMP to dds. Here's a screenshot of what it did, but all files in the Terragen/Textures/dds directory are still BMP. WaterAlpha_DDS_conversion.png EDIT: I decided to rerun the nvdxt.exe...

Re: Photo realistic scenery tutorial for C2?

I wanted to mention that parts of the tutorial I wrote for realistic scenery creation for Condor 1 are still valid for Condor 2: http://www.condorsoaring.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16426 You want to use the official Condor 2 tutorial to create your initial high field (ghost-like) landscape befor...

Re: Inno Landscape Installer

Alternatively, if Thierry is concerned about malware, he could implement a verification process for people uploading sceneries to his servers. But yes, it does seem like extra work the makers to make it easier for the takers. Considering that Condor comes pre-installed with everything needed to use ...

Clarification on Water Alpha tiles

For the water mask the tutorial says "Save the file as a000.bmp". This confuses me, since tiles are numbered with 4 digits. In the case of the scenery I'm working the "Terragen" tiles extend between 0000.BMP and 1414.BMP (photorealistic). Does that mean that my water mask tiles should be a0000.BMP t...

Re: Identifying scenery with trees?

When developing lake keepit scenery I developed a script for GIMP that isolated most of the trees in the sat imagery. This worked well for about 80%, the rest were edited in landscape editor. Saved me 100's of hours. The script took the image and isolated a range of colour. This was then processed ...

I other words it shouldn't be hard to add it in the next patch. I think that's what the OP was asking for.

Convert your bmp in dds directly with photoshop, using DXT3 format.

Thank you, dgtfer. That works in Gimp too. I just need to figure out a way to automate the process, because each Terragen tile now has to be sliced into 16 and exported. For me that's 3600 tiles :? . Cheers.

Water effect in dark shadows

I'm working on a photo-realistic scenery. Even though my initial BMP files are 24-bit with Alpha channel removed (in Gimp), the Landscape Editor exports to DDS and converts all black pixels to Alpha, resulting in the water effect within dark shadows and trees. I wasn't able to find an answer on how ...

Re: Let's improve the scenery quality.

Create a scenery user's rating system (Condor-club). Competition organizers can say that landscapes rated less than e.g. 4 stars will not be used. This may motivate developers to be more diligent since most probably want their creations to be downloaded, praised, and used in competitions. We probabl...

Re: V2 Landscapes (sceneries) : work in progress / intentions

I started working on the area outlined below, which I call Logan2. It is just north of Nephi. At 15x15 it is a little smaller than original Logan for C1, but it will be 8192 px resolution photo-realistic. I'm currently compiling orthophotographic data for it and deciding on airports, so if anyone is...
