Poll : Which V1 gliders should be available in V2 ?

Post by Bre901 » Wed Feb 21, 2018 11:07 pm

Following the discussion in the new gliders thread (here) about which V1 gliders should be made available in V2, I have suggested opening a poll so that the community can express its wishes

As OXO has opened the possibility to create polls on this forum (thanks), I have closed the Doodle poll I opened on Feb. 21.

Please feel free to express your choices.

Apologies to those who voted on the Doodle poll, at least their vote allowed to shorten the list. They are welcome to vote again on this poll

Discus 2ax, a competitive glider to the LS8-neo
ASG29, competitive to the JS1 & Ventus 3
Discus 2c, because its great :)

Just asking:

OXO, aside of the modelling of the planes (polygons, texture etc) is the physics setup too much different from V1? What I mean is if the porting of SOME planes from V1 to V2 is too much work (in any case done after V2 is running ok)?

Just a question from someone with no skills

René,

Its not physics, it the level of detail and the look of the planes is not up to Condor 2 standard.

I notice the glider list in Condor2 is quite small - are the others still in development? Just wondering.

I voted ASW-19 Club Class is the most fun in RL and the Cirrus need an opponent right?

If you consider what's available today and what's planned for the next months the Club class is the least represented

Club = Cirrus vs ?
Standard = Genesis 2 vs LS8neo
15m = Diana 2 vs Ventus3 15m vs DG808 15m
18m = Antares vs Ventus3 18m vs DG808 18m

As there are newer and supposedly greater gliders in the market now it'd be nice to have some new as well as the V1 gliders. A modern open class would be a nice option though the open class doesn't seem to be that popular in the sim.

As I'm from the UK I ticked for the K13 and K21 as they are the most common training gliders used by UK gliding clubs and as one of the main functions of Condor is for training having these may potentially attract more students to purchase the sim?

I wonder how the community would feel if you left the V1 models as per and simply ported them across as they are and focus on making gliders that'd be totally new to us for V2?

Myself I'd be happy with that compromise, alas I'm not sure others would be? I also appreciate that you may want to keep the level consistent throughout the sim.

Paul, they cannot be simply imported. Some things work differently "under the hood" of V2, so they would have to be substantially reworked anyway. It's better to build it again, detailed as needed etc.

It's best to drop this subject, because V1 planes will not be imported to Condor 2.

Some will be remade in high quality for Condor 2, but the unpopular ones will not.

Ah, now I understand why, thanks for that explanation.

V2 is new and shall evolve with new gliders and it is this that I shall look forward to enjoying in the future :mrgreen: For now exploring a new sim is enough to keep me entertained!

I am sure everyone has their favorite gilder and I sure they have some real good reasons for their favorites.

I would just like to add the following.

Grob Twin Astir

Grob Twin II

Ls -3

DG-1000

ASW 24

Thank you for your consideration.
