DDS Reducer tool for V2
DDS Reducer tool for V2
My Condor2 disk is getting full, so I tried to reduce some sceneries textures, but DDS Reducer tool say "Condor is not installed on this computer or registry access is forbiden".
Is DDS Reducer for C1 sceneries only or is there something wrong on my side?
Also, is there a way to have part of landscapes installed on different drive?
Thanks for advice.

Re: DDS Reducer tool for V2
Yes
Assuming Condor is installed in C:\Condor2 and you want use drive D: and move Netherlands
Create a folder in D:\ e.g. Condor2-Landscapes.
Cut and paste or drag and drop the desired scenery folder from C:\Condor2\Landscapes to D:\Condor2-Landscapes
If you drag and drop it, it will be still in C:\Condor2\Landscapes, you'll have to delete the folder.
Start a command-prompt window :
>C:
>cd Condor2\Landscapes
>mklink /j Netherlands D:\Condor2-Landscapes\Netherlands
Voilà !
Caution : if there are white spaces in the scenery name (it is allowed by Microsoft, but it is a bad thing IMHO), you'll have to use quotes :
>mklink /j "South East UK2" "D:\Condor2-Landscapes\South East UK2"

Re: DDS Reducer tool for V2
Thanks, will try this.
One more thing. Does Condor load all of the landscape at start, or does read from disk during the flight too?
If C2 reads all at the beginning, then I don't mind having landscapes on HDD instead of SSD.

Load at start and pick up data during flight.
Re: DDS Reducer tool for V2
it does read textures "as needed" (thankfully, as some sceneries are >20GB). Its supposed to read them before they are needed in a background process, but on ultra high resolution satellite image sceneries this can still cause some stuttering/short freezing when it loads them from a rotating rust drive. If Im honest, even when loading from an SSD.
Re: DDS Reducer tool for V2
Thanks. For now I'll keep copying landscapes between disks as I do now. Looks like buying another SSD is the only reasonable solution. At least SSDs are pretty cheap now.
Re: DDS Reducer tool for V2
Condor1 was really stuttering between tiles, Condor2 does a much better job. If you have a 7200 rpm HDD, it is quite bearable.
This being said, I must confess that I just purchased a bargain 500GB Samsung SSD (1/3 for the system, 2/3 for Condor, which means that I still have the less used sceneries on an HDD)
