Noob wants to build a Landscape (Stuck in QGIS) See last Post
Hello there,
im trying to get my first scenery using the Condor Landscape Guide.
I'm following the Tutorial step by step but now im Stuck in QGIS on Page 15.
I am able to follow to the point when i select the files to merge and select the Input files ESRI.HDR Labelled (*.bil *.BIL). Picture QGIS_1
Then i use the second select button and then it goes worse. I Can't set the Output file to ESRI.HDR Labelled as it is written in the tutorial. And why should i name the file with XXXXX.bil when the output file is set to ESRUI.HDR (what i cannont find). Picture QGIS_2
Is there anything else i have to to whats not mentioned in the tutorial at this point?
Best Wishes

Re: Stuck in QGIS
Im guessing you downloaded the latest 3.4 version of qgis. The manual is based on 2.18.27, which is still available for download under the "Long term release repository ": https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html#
Re: Stuck in QGIS
Yes, this right.
Installed now the Version you noticed.
After all i get a error Message which reads:

Re: Stuck in QGIS
Did you uninstall the other version? Are you using 32 bit or 64 bit version of qgis?
Re: Stuck in QGIS
Yes, did a complete Uninstall and cleaned the registry!
Used the Version you told me, 64 BIT Version.

Re: Stuck in QGIS
Looks like your first qgis install installed a version of numpy that doesnt work with the old one.
Im out of my depths here, but you could try installing the 32 bit version. Or try some of the tricks here:
https://github.com/mapillary/OpenSfM/issues/160
or uninstall, remove python and reinstall?

Re: Stuck in QGIS
Again i removed the QGIS Installation completely, cleaned the Registry.
After Restart i loaded the 32 Bit Version, 2.18.27-1 and installed it with Admin Rights.
The Installation Process worked and i was forced to do a restart of my Rig.
When i start QGIS Desktop i get the Error Message in the attached image several times. Finally QGIS starts
but i get the same error as with the 64BIT Version.
I tried to run QGIS wit Admin rights in compatibility mode Win8, same thing.

Re: Stuck in QGIS
Hello Tomkin
I Use Qgis 2.18.24 64 bits on my 64 bits Pc and Qgis 2.18 32 bits on my old PC 32 bits. Don't use a 32 bits Qgis on a 64 bits PC.
Both works well to built sceneries for Condor 2, if you follow the Landscapes Guide.
But, if you had use Qgis 3.XXXX, to begin your work, you will encounter some issues if you switch back to Qgis 2.18.
So you had to rebuild your scenery from the beginning with Qgis 2.18.
Good luck

Re: Stuck in QGIS
I cant help you much at this point, as Im hardly an expert on qgis. If no one else here knows, perhaps contact qgis support or forums.
I will say though, in general you dont want to use registry cleaners, they tend to do far more harm than good.
Likewise, unless there is a specific need, dont install apps as admin; if an installer needs privilege escalation, it will prompt you. Installing as admin may render it not working when running apps as regular user and can be a security risk.
Anyway, I would try what i suggested earlier. Uninstall qgis. Uninstall all versions of python.
Check if there is anything left in
%ProgramFiles%\Python X.Y
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Python X.Y
Also delete anything in
%LocalAppData%\Programs\PythonXY
and
%LocalAppData%\Programs\PythonXY-32
Then reinstall qgis (as regular user). 64 bit ought to work (and does on my system)

I installed the 64 Bit Version of QGIS and it happens again.
Exactly the same Error as on my Desktop PC.
What the Heck is this?
So im can't make any Scenery cause this Fc!/!%$ QGIS wont work?
Im doing all the Things Step by step as it is written in the manual.
These Links wheere those Tricks with Numpy and Phyton Stuff is nothing what works for me, as i have no
clue about Phyton and Numpy, i cant Update Numpy without an description how to do that cause i dont know Phyton.
I just wanted a Tool to merge the files.
This is very dissapointing!

Re: Stuck in QGIS
Try to download version 2.18.16 from here http://download.osgeo.org/qgis/win64/ (QGIS-OSGeo4W-2.18.16-1-Setup-x86.exe)
to me works well with both 2.18.16 and 3.0.0 version on this same machine

Hi,
now encountered a new mystery, i want to use the RawToTrn Tool as described: we can click the Load raw heightmap button and select our tutorial_clipped.bil data file. But i can't select the file i created cause its not selectable. I have only two options:
Raw 16-bit Word files or Condor TRN Files. How can i select the wanted *.bil File?

Re: Stuck in QGIS
You can also rename the .bil file to a .raw file, which works OK.
