The Matterhorn is distorted in Jura-Mont Blanc

Post by ebkollgaard » Wed Jul 18, 2018 10:26 pm

Hi Danpal,
I wanted to contact you about your scenery, Jura-Mont Blanc V2. I really enjoy flying the Alps using this and think it is an excellent landscape I wanted to alert you that the Matterhorn appears to have some mistake in the mesh but you may already know this. It appears that either a portion of the ridge line is missing or there is an extra false peak on the ridge. I am hoping you might repair it because the Matterhorn is such a beautiful peak.

Regards,
Eric Kollgaard

Absolutely!
Textures are not the final ones though and need to be retouched.

Or something like that (30 m mesh, 8192 pixels, artwork textures) without fixed shadow and any overprinted cloud coming with mountains photo-satellite pictures:

Xavier, you are pioneering a lot of techniques for accurate scenery making, and your help has been decisive for my own work especially AA!
But I still think that, though you're wright on the limitations of photo textures with their fixed shadows, they are nonetheless giving a much better immersion and reality feeling in flight...
Textures generated by softwares are still too predictable, and the result is too monotonous, especially at long distances.

Eiger Nordwand in the middle and Mönch to the right...

Wetterhorn and Mättenberg to the left...

Hi Michel (Dgtfer),

I will not argue with you, my friend!

I think that both kind of sceneries can live together in Condor2s' world.

But have a look to Eiger and Jungfrau in artwork textures (Ice on the mountains breaks the monotony, as shadows at each hour of the day):

6 am

noon

6 pm

And you can always fly safely in the mountains' shadows, near the walls.

Make also an experience with or without RealtimeShading (0 or 1) with photosat or artwork textures sceneries.

My two pence
