BigPyrenees2

Post by Capricorne » Thu Mar 15, 2018 11:08 am

Hi all ,
My new BigPyrennees2 scenery can be downloaded from here:
Same surface as V1 but a new terrain in 30m resolution, new Hd textures, For now only basic Airports.....Scenery made for flying...
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing
There are 3 folders :
First one " ScèneComplete-en-8k" the complete scenery in 4 files, you need to download the 4 before extracting "BigPyrenees2.7z.001 to Condor2/Landscapes/ No more : Have changed to normals zip
The other 2 folders, are HD 16k 4096x4096 files that will replace the textures from first folder, To be extracted in BigPyrenees2/textures.
You can try the scenery without theses files..
Good download and Fly soon in BigPyrenees2

Will try! It looks very nice also.

Xanix, what is it „Realtimeshading”?

I think you already know this:

It’s not recommended activate it, for photo-real scenery. For me; having it on, makes everything ‘more alive’! If I’m not wrong; all the rendered models in view, cast and receive shadows: terrains, clouds, sailplanes, buildings…

That ini setting only refers to terrain self-shading.

The other shadows (planes, buildings, clouds) are always on.

This option was introduced when some scenery makers complained about double shadows, one from the textures and the other generated by the engine. It kind of highlights limitations of using "photoreal" textures. They may be "photo", but they are "real" for one short moment of the year only. At every other day and time, you just see a photo, more or less distant from the reality of the particular moment.

One workaround for that is what GregHart was doing (there is another thread about it) -- manually alter the textures to remove the shadows recorded in them, so only those generated by Condor engine are visible. Time consuming hard work.

Or the easy way, turn the terrain shadows off, but then...

@ Capricorne,
Personally I prefer maps with more 3D objects but this (like Scotland3 8K) looks very nice also.
BIG Thank You!

Btw. my Condor 2 now has...74Gb and its the one month after release!

Im having some trouble installing this.

I downloaded "scenecomplete-en-8k". This contains 3 zips. I unzipped the first two zips (bigpyrenees2main and T3) to condor2/landscapes, then I copied the contents of missing_textures.zip to the textures folder. I only get black flatness.
Im not sure what you mean by " you need to download the 4 before extracting "BigPyrenees2.7z.001 ". Do I need to download condorV1 scenery for this first?

In total You have 5 zip files for 8K. Everything is in this folder.
Unpack the Main file, next T1-3 parts (only to Texture), in the end Missing Texture (to Texture also). If You will see warning screen overwrite files.

5? So I do need the TexturesHDGenerale and TexturesHDairport too?
From the OP description it seemed those are only for "HD 16k".

If not those 2, then how do you get to 5? Scenecomplete-en-8K only contains 3 zips, you mention 5 and the OP mentions "the complete scenery in 4 files".

Sorry if Im being slow :).

Oh nevermind, my download seems incomplete. I tried to download the entire container in one go, google then zips it and apparently that zip file isnt complete. I'll download the missing parts and try again.

For the record, here is what I did, and how NOT to do it. I rightclicked the scenecomplete-en-8K to download all of it:

Image

Google drive then (pointlessly) started zipping the zip files, and when that is finally done, the zipfile I downloaded contained only this:

Image

Only 3 zips. While in reality, you need all these:

So make sure to download those individually, not the entire folder like I did.
