I have made a patch for the Scotland 3 scenery which contains revised 32 bit PDA bmp maps, for those that have experienced 'blue screen' problems when switching maps.

The patch also contains revised scenery load screens which now have the Condor 2 logo on them.

This patch has been uploaded to Condor Club but is not yet available for download. This patch is optional and does not change the content of scenery or version number.

The patch is on my Google drive:

Note: The Google Drive also has the new South East UK2 scenery on it for download.

Flying a task this evening which ended at Rovie Farm I discovered a bad terrain error with this airfield. In addition there are also some inperfections in the textures in this area. Which will require some rework, followed by patch which also change the version number as the patch will change the terrain. This scenery making at times can be very frustrating but rewarding if it turns out right.

As the "Scotish wave" topic is closed, I'll post today's findings here :

There is some pretty good wave near Ben Nevis (I achieved a little less than 8300 m / 27000 ft - for the metrically challenged  )

It can be reached rather easily from Connel

Very nice landscape, congratulations Andy !!

BTW, the towplane apparently has a dedicated underground runway at Connel, whereas the glider remains on the ground (takeoff was successfull however)
[edited to add that the tiny Dynamic is completely invisible at the beginning of the takeoff run]

Ref Connel - taking in a northerly direction no problem.

Taking off in a southerly direction - The runway is very close to the sea and has been flattened at 5m AMSL. The terrain then slopes down to the sea in a very short distance. Unfortunately Condor has parked the towplane on this slope. Then what happens is that the towplane taxis into the runway (i.e. ignores the terrain) and disappears under the runway!

As you have stated the glider takes off OK.

I could take the 5m terrain to the waters edge and then have a cliff but this is not the correct terrain then.

Thanks for the explanation !
IMHO it's not a big issue, once you know it, maybe a warning would be enough.
Or just change the towplanes registration and skin, something like that :

Its OK I have adjusted the terrain slightly where the tow plane parks and will add it to a Version 1.1 patch.

Thanks Andy, great work!

I'm guessing the v1.1 patch is not out yet?

I expected to see v1.1, but the .ini file still says Version=1.0 as of today after installing the scenery for the first time.

It might be an idea to suggest an installation order as well, not sure if it matters, but a v1.1 patch will further complicate the install procedure.

The Scotland patch has slipped down my ‘to do’ list. I have been busy working on a requested extended West UK scenery, getting North UK to release, also I have diverted and made Provence scenery for myself.

Hopefully this will get done soon. Thanks for the reminder.😀

Lots of work going on currently to update this scenery to I guess, what it should have been, had I not been so hasty in in releasing it.

It will have all the Condor 2 goodies, trees, water, airfield objects and a correct albedo thermal map. :D

Moving the replies to Alistair's questions to this Scotland thread from the mid-air one.

In reply, Yes Portmoak and the Bishop hill are well modelled in the Scotland 3 version 2 scenery (Hopefully available soon).

Still have 4 airfields and 26 texture tiles to work on.

I have been reworking Scotland 3 now for some time, trying to get it to what I guess it should have been, had I not released it so early.

The scenery now has a correct albedo thermal map (no more thermals over sea).

It has correct water textures.

It has trees placed as per Open Street Map.

All airfields have runways and 3D objects.

There are other 3D objects (Forth bridge, Isle of Skye bridge).

It has some objects from Chris's original Scotland HD Condor V1 scenery.

Texture and terrain errors have been corrected.

This is an evaluation version V1.90 released on my Google drive for comments, suggestions. If you find any errors please tell me (I am a one man design and test team). I am still working on some textures to complete the work.

If anyone has some photos of the buildings on the Scotland Gliding sites that will improve/enhance the scenery then please PM me on the forum and I will send you my email address.

Download all five 7zip files.

Using only 7zip software select and extract file .001.

The 7zip achive will extract into a Scotland 3 folder.

You will have to either delete or move any existing Scotland3 Ver 1.0 scenery.

Copy and paste Scotland3 folder into your Condor 2 landscapes folder.

Files total about 4.5gb and the unzipped scenery is 20gb.

Following a sucessful evaluation period I hope to upload to Condor Club (as V2.0) for wider and easier (Condor Club Updater) access.
