Oculus Rift S - Error on Start

Post by Delareon » Wed Oct 09, 2019 7:46 am

Hi,

i just bought an Rift S and, of course, want to do some Gider Rides.

But unfortunately i cant get it to run.
I tick the Oculus Box and start a Free Flight but i get an "Error initializing Direct3D".

Somebody wrote about an workaround to not start any Steam content before but this doesnt help in my case.
There is nothing running from Steam just Oculus Home ofc.

Any ideas?

Thanks, will try this evening.

You mean in the Condor Settings right?
Not some Graphic Card Setting or something else?

Seems like i had a working Solution...

I had to uninstall TrackIR, from the Logfiles the Application tried to run Track IR instead of Occulus dll stuff.

But still im very dissapointet, weird Problems in the Application like this from Occulus and every other Thread you linked with weird Solutions like "Reinstall Oculus" when at the same time every single other VR App works like a charm or that i have to deactivate Google Drive or it crashes after some time..... (why Drive?? what the...)

Also this is the second time i wrote a Mail to the Support and NEVER get an answer.

Guys this is no abandoned OpenSource Project this is Payware so i expect a bare minimum of Support and at least someone who answers the mails, even a "Sorry cant help" would be better than ignoring.

I'm trying to help. Others on the forum report no issues with the rift S, so there must be something local on your PC that is preventing it from working.

Maybe this:

I don't have a Rift S, so I can't really help but...

Why do you use windowed mode? To give the rift more headroom?
Maybe try Vertical sync for even more headroom and stop throttling?
Maybe stop Processes in Task Manager that you don't need while flying. Some might intervene..? (Like the Google ones...)
Do you use the latest drivers? GPU and Headset?
Does your system have a powerful enough PSU?
